Recognizing the importance of philanthropy, Tanya supports charities that are close to her heart. She shares her love of music with Canada’s youth through her role at MusiCounts, an organization that provides instruments to schools across the country. She travelled to Zambia in November 2008 as national spokesperson for CARE Canada to help launch their “I Am Powerful” initiative, and is also a Director of Blessings In A Backpack, a charitable organization headed by Hilary Duff, that provides meals for school-aged children in Canada and the US. In 2009, Tanya along with Ben Mulroney returned as hosts of Free The Children’s We Day youth empowerment events in Toronto and Vancouver. Tanya Kim also shares her love for animals by supporting the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA).
Recently, Tanya was asked to become the honourary chair for the OSPCA‘s first ever Friends For Life Walk-A-Thon event in Toronto, Ontario. The Friends For Life Walk-A-Thon is a provincial program of Ontario SPCA designed to raise funds and awareness for the protection and care of all animals in Ontario.
